Year in Review - 2020

Genesis Project of Northern Colorado

2020 Year in Review

Genesis on the Move!

2020 brought about a lot of good, a lot of learning, and even more reconstruction.

Genesis Participants - 2019/2020

This year we grew from serving 3 participants to 6! We had two graduates who we are so honored to have served. We celebrate their independence, maturity and growth as they navigate parenting solo in such uncertain times. We continue to serve three women through this Christmas season and look forward to accepting three new participants in February.

Organization Updates

The look of our board has changed a lot this year! We said a sweet goodbye to Jan and Barry Bartram who served Genesis for nearly 18 years! Their legacy and service is treasured and we truly hope they enjoy their “retirement."

Board Members

We have such a wonderful leadership team at Genesis and have enjoyed working with one another. Bruce started with the team this year and brings organizational health and business acumen to the table. Sally treats us to amazing bookkeeping standards and problem solving. Dorothy brings years of accounting experience and prayers. Janet takes wonderful meeting notes and is the “go git-R-done” person on the team. Dora helps with direction, heart and interviewing. Ashley started as Director this year and brings drive, heart and direction for growth of the participants, employees and organization. We have had some amazing growth this year despite 2020 being so strange. If you would like to serve as an Executive or Advisory Board Member in 2021 please reach out to us. The Executive Board is an active volunteership and the Advisory Board is called on in times of specific need or advice. Each board will be expanding in 2021 to better serve these women in Greeley.

Staff and Volunteers

It takes so many people to help this ministry run well! Our volunteers and staff give their all to this ministry and the women benefit from their wisdom, service and talents! We are so thankful for their partnership with these women! We are looking for additional partners to add in 2021, including mentors, dietician/ nutritionist, case manager, child care lead, new Onsite Program Coordinator, and an Executive Assistant. 2021 is going to be amazing as we add to this wonderful team! Everyone here gives from a place that wants to help others heal, grow and succeed! We strive to be a place where people can use their gifts and talents for the benefit of others.

DID YOU KNOW GENESIS HAS A HOUSE WITH AN ACTIVE RESIDENTIAL MINISTRY?

Inside this home are 7 individual kitchenettes! One apartment is for our Onsite Program Coordinator (she lives here). The other two floors have 6 apartments for participants. We have a community living room, kitchen, yard and playroom for all to enjoy. Genesis is not considered a “safe house” but we are a safe place to live. We serve women who are parenting alone. We seek to bridge the gap between unhealthy dependence and healthy independence, brokenness and wholeness, lost to found. We had a significant maintenance upheaval in November when the plumbing and sewer were determined to be unfit and needed replaced immediately.

We are well on our way to having a safe home for these families to live in again. Weld Community Foundation donated a temporary home to our ministry for 8 weeks while the work is being completed! Reconstruction will start soon and we are looking for more teams to help with the basement, main floor and second floor.

We are truly looking forward to going back home in January!

In order to complete this project we reached out to the community and asked for emergency funding. Thank you to everyone who gave because this project is FULLY funded! We are blessed beyond belief and are continually in awe at God’s provision over this home and ministry. We would love for you to partner with us! Please consider giving a year end contribution. We want to continue serving these women and provide the best growth opportunities possible. Your giving allows us to do this! Genesis is a registered 501(c)(3) and your donation may be tax deductible. Please mail donations made out to Genesis Project of Northern Colorado to: 1411 9th Ave Unit 1, Greeley, Colorado 80631 Donate Securely Here Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
