Job Purpose:
The Genesis Project mission is to empower single mothers in their pursuit of a new beginning. The Resident Advisor lives on-site and holds a significant role in setting a Christ like example of love, dignity and courage for Genesis program participants. As a primary point of contact for staff, participants and volunteers, they must enjoy working and living within a faith based, mission-driven, community of single mothers and their children.
Principal Responsibilities:
The Resident Advisor is responsible for supporting the ministry through maintaining a positive group living environment, coordinating activities and monitoring security to ensure a safe and healthy environment for Genesis participants and their families. Principle responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

The Resident Advisor is on call during the evening, at night, and on weekends, to initiate emergency procedures, assist with medical and property needs, prayer and group activities.

Maintain open communication with participants and staff. Provide positive communication and constructive feedback to participants consistent with the Genesis program policies. Address any immediate safety and/or security concerns with participants and ensure prompt communication with staff both verbally and in writing.

Ensure all community areas are clean and provide a safe and healthy living environment at all times. This will include monitoring assigned chores for compliance and reporting unacceptable standards to staff.

Actively participate in regularly scheduled Genesis dinners and meetings. Coordinate clean-up and provide feedback to staff regarding overall success or concerns.

Greet Genesis visitors including maintenance staff, volunteers and instructors. Provide tours of designated areas and introductions as required.

Assist in other security and household tasks as needed.

Support the Genesis Project and participants in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year experience or be enrolled in an educational program, preferably with a focus on: family studies, social work, counseling, case management, human services

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy

Ability to take initiative, multi-task, be a team-player, adapt to shifting priorities and prioritize work

Ability to function independently and exercise good judgment in a variety of situations

Possess strong written and verbal communication skills

Possess administrative, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite

Ability to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs multiple times daily without assistance
Compensation:
This internship will require 15-20 hours of time per week. Resident Advisor will have one (1) weekend off per month. Includes a one (1) bedroom apartment onsite, all utilities paid, internet, trash, pest control and laundry facilities included (estimated value $1400). In addition, a monthly stipend up to $500 may be provided commensurate with experience. Genesis will work with educational programs to provide required documentation to meet educational program needs.
